Initial assessment, fees and appointment availability
Initial Consultation
Our initial consultation is a unique part of our service and takes up to an hour. During this consultation a senior member of the team will explore the precise nature of your problem and find out your particular needs. It is probably unlikely the therapist you see this first time will be your counsellor or psychotherapist for subsequent sessions, so essentially this is a finding out session with a view to making the right referral to one of our team. Our sole aim is to ensure you find the best therapist, not just in terms who has the right expertise but also someone you’re likely to be comfortable working with.
Counselling or longer term psychotherapy is a serious undertaking which involves dedication and hard work to achieve your desired outcomes. This is why your initial consultation is also an ideal opportunity to ask questions or raise concerns about what’s involved, prior to any commitment. Whilst we encourage clients to commit to a minimum of four sessions before reviewing, it is important you tell your counsellor or psychotherapist how it’s going. You are investing your valued time and money, we want to make sure you make the right decision from the very outset.
If our service cannot provide the specific help you need we will suggest alternatives wherever possible. Once a referral is decided upon we endeavour to start your sessions as soon as possible. Often you can speed this up by being as flexible as possible about the times that your are available.
Fees
The cost of an initial consultation is a single charge of £60. The charge for individual Counselling or Psychotherapy is £50 a session, or £55 a session for couples therapy, £65 for family work. Sessions are usually between 50 minutes to an hour in length. In certain circumstances these rates may be negotiable with the individual therapist. This amount is payable at the end of each session or in advance for a set number of sessions. You are expected to pay in full for missed or cancelled sessions if less than 24 hours notice is given.
Availability
Appointments are available from Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 8.00 pm, with some availability on Saturday mornings. Evening appointments, understandably, are most in demand and hence more difficult to book.
